Under the existing Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, employers in conjunction with the Joint Health and Safety Committees, must implement regulations pertaining to Designated Substances in the workplace. ECOH offers building owners and management the service of inspecting a site for designated substances (mercury, lead, asbestos, etc.), and in turn establishing the proper procedures necessary to handle these substances. In accordance with Section 9 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, building owners are required to have a conclusive building survey done prior to any renovations or demolition of a facility. In accordance with this, as is the case with asbestos surveys, ECOH will perform room-by-room surveys of facilities to locate and catalogue the presence of any Designated Substances and in turn produce a report with recommendations to the client.
