Celebrating International Women’s Day at ECOH

International Women's Day | March 2024

ECOH’s diverse team is composed of professionals from many backgrounds, ethnicities, countries and cultures. We are an echo of the multiculturalism of Canada: a tapestry of individuals woven together by our common mission of protecting people, property and planet.

Women in STEM and the Environmental Industry

Sharing thoughts on ‘Women in STEM and the Environmental Industry’ is ECOH’s VP of Business Development and Strategy, Catherine Barker-Mills:

“Today, on International Women’s Day, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible achievements and contributions of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). As someone deeply rooted in the environmental consulting industry for over 22 years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside many brilliant women who have made significant impacts in their fields.

At ECOH, we understand the importance of diversity and inclusion, and I’m proud to say that our team includes talented women who are leading the way in environmental innovation and sustainability. From conducting field work to implementing innovative solutions, these women are shaping the future of our industry and making a positive difference in the world.

As a passionate advocate for Women in STEM, I’ve had the opportunity to speak on this topic at various events. I firmly believe that by empowering and supporting women in STEM, we can unlock endless possibilities for creativity and drive positive change in our communities and beyond.

On this International Women’s Day, let’s celebrate the achievements of women at ECOH and in STEM and continue to work towards a more equitable and inclusive future for all. Together, we can build a world where every woman and girl has the opportunity to pursue their passions and reach their full potential.”

#InspireInclusion: IWD 2024 Theme

This year, UN International Women’s Day theme is #InspireInclusion. We have an amazing team of both men and women, but today we wanted to shine a spotlight on just a few of the incredible women that contribute their skills, dedication and experience to ECOH:

Marianne Levitsky, MES, CIH, ROH, FAIHA

Senior Associate

As a Senior Associate at ECOH, I’ve been honoured to contribute to the technical expertise, commitment to excellence and client services for more than 15 Years. Before being with ECOH I was a director with the Ontario Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), where I directed prevention policy and program development.  I also previously worked as an occupational hygienist for the Ontario Ministry of Labour.

ECOH is a collaborative team: small enough to foster close cooperation between divisions, yet large enough to be able to provide comprehensive and full-service environmental consulting to our clients. I enjoy sharing my time between providing ECOH with industrial hygiene and process improvement advice, and volunteer work like serving as the founding president of the non-profit organization Workplace Health Without Borders (WHWB).

Shanelle Pendley Oseni, B.A., PMP

IT Project Coordinator

I’m proud to have just successfully completed the PMP Certificate Program (Project Management Professional). Once I had the experience required (3-years of projects), it took me about a year to achieve. I enrolled in a certificate program at UofT 2022, completed it, and then began studying for a few months and wrote the exam.

I honestly started the program because my grandpa is a PMP, he really wanted me to do this and he inspires me. Long term, I love working on IT projects and helping to improve our IT Program.

Tracey-Ann Bullock, B.SC., EP

Operations Manager – Environmental

I’m Tracey-Ann, Operations Manager of the Environmental team at ECOH. Throughout my 7+ years at ECOH I have worked on hundreds of Environmental Site Assessments, groundwater remediation and large portfolio projects. I’ve appreciated being able to contribute my unique experiences and skills to providing hands-on leadership and quality control on projects ECOH embarks on.

I enjoy connecting with my clients and helping them find practical solutions to their complex environmental problems. The long-lasting and personable relationships with clients and my team are what make me excited to continue growing with ECOH. I’m also looking forward to mentoring, sharing knowledge and instilling passion for protecting people, property and planet in the next generation of ECOH Environmental Scientists.

Wendy Vincent

ACSO, Senior Recruiter and HR Generalist

My name is Wendy Vincent. I am the senior recruiter, the alternate company security officer and the HR generalist for ECOH. I have been with ECOH for 6 years. During that time, I’ve been proud to initiate and implement new processes to support and streamline training, securities, recruitment and more. I’m honoured to work alongside such talented and hard-working individuals. ECOH genuinely cares about what I have to offer and allows me to run with my ideas. The support to thrive and the autonomy to do my job is unlike anywhere I’ve ever worked before. I’m excited to be part of what ECOH has in store for us in the coming months.

Naomi Pitcher, B.Env.Sc

Marketing Specialist

From day 1 at ECOH (almost exactly 5 years ago), I have felt a part of the team here. I started my Environmental Consulting career as an Environmental Scientist with the Hazardous Materials division. As a scientist, I enjoyed being engaged with complex projects discovering and delineating hazardous materials and contributing to keeping people safe.

Following my passion for building relationships and engaging with people and clients, ECOH encouraged me to take on my current role as Marketing Specialist. In this role I’ve been proud to spearhead the re-development of our website, logo refresh and build our brand both within and without ECOH. I’m looking forward to developing in this role and helping advance ECOH’s growth as Canada’s premier Environmental Consulting firm.

Erin Misfeldt, BES

AutoCAD Technician

I’m very proud of the progress I’ve made in boosting efficiency in the CAD (Computer Aided Design) Department. The CAD Department provides visual representations of ECOH’s projects, including locations of hazardous materials and site layouts for compliance with environmental regulations. From changing how we handle CAD requests to setting up important standard operating procedures (SOPs) for our drawings – the changes I’ve spearheaded have had some really positive impacts. In addition to these changes, I also implemented data analytics for the CAD Department to better understand where further improvements can be made.

I really appreciate ECOH’s support in letting me focus on my passion for data analytics. ECOH has supported my learning and encouraged me to expand my data analytics project outside of the CAD Department, which has been an amazing experience. I’m looking forward to continuing my learning in this area! The Four Day Week trial has also brought about a huge transformation, and I feel lucky to be part of such a forward-thinking and cutting-edge company.

Cindy Stancovici,  HBSc.

Environmental Scientist – Hazardous Materials

Hi! My name is Cindy and I’m so excited to be starting my career at ECOH as an Environmental Scientist with the Hazardous Materials team! I’ve been fortunate to have had the opportunity to explore a multi-faceted educational background,  starting with my HBSc in Biology, followed by a post-graduate certification in Environmental Planning, and more recently finishing with a second HBSc in Environmental Geoscience. My time as a student lead me to internships with the Ministry of Environment as an Environmental Assistant, as well as a Research Assistant for the Ministry of Agriculture. I’m eager to put forth my theoretical and practical knowledge as I embark on my new role and am looking forward to learning about the consulting industry.
